The Center for Psychoanalysis and Philosophical Anthropology (CPPA) was founded in 1999 as cooperation between two departments of Philosophical Anthropology, one in The Netherlands (Radboud University Nijmegen) and one in Belgium (Catholic University Leuven). The CPPA works together with several other psychoanalytical and philosophical centers and departments in the Low Countries.
The primary goal of the CPPA is to stimulate and coordinate academic research, especially research focused on the philosophical roots and implications of psychoanalysis. In order to achieve this goal, a wide variety of research activities are organised and supported by the CPPA, among which two series of books, one in Dutch, published by Uitgeverij Boom (Vragen aan Freud), and one in English, published by Leuven University Press (Figures of the Unconscious).

Après-Coup Psychoanalytic Association was founded in 1987 as an association for the study and transmission of psychoanalysis and for the formation of psychoanalysts. The Association brings together psychoanalysts, students of psychoanalysis and other disciplines, and scholars from a variety of different fields for the research and advancement of psychoanalysis and of psychoanalysis and culture.
The central focus of the Association is on the work of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. It is accompanied by the study of other psychoanalysts, as well as work in related disciplines such as science, philosophy, art, anthropology, linguistics, and literature.
In the spirit of the Freudian psychoanalytic tradition, Après-Coup maintains an interdisciplinary forum within which psychoanalysts and other scholars are engaged in a dialogue to clarify and deepen their understanding of psychoanalysis, science, and culture. For this reason, Après-Coup includes as members psychoanalysts, analysts in training, and others interested in the field of psychoanalysis.
Après-Coup does not discriminate with regard to sex, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, or national origin in any aspect of its programs, including selection of students, members, participants, faculty, psychoanalysts, supervisors, and administrative staff.

La fédération a pour objet de :
- Promouvoir l’interrogation comparative au plan européen sur la spécificité de la psychanalyse au regard des autres pratiques dites psychothérapiques
- Développer les axes nécessaires aux professionnels « psy », permettre un regroupement de différentes associations autour de la psychanalyse et de les représenter auprès des instances politiques et administratives tant nationales qu’européennes.
- Confronter le discours analytique aux autres champs culturels et scientifiques dans une perspective d’intégration au plan européen.
- Il a été constitué une Commission Européenne dont la tâche est de préciser les différents projets de la F.E.D.E.P.S.Y., de donner les options institutionnelles par rapport au Conseil de l’Europe. Cette commission constitue un forum pour les différentes associations composant la F.E.D.E.P.S.Y.
La coordination de la Commission Européenne est assurée par 10 membres issus du Collège de Direction et sur proposition du président. Cette coordination consiste aussi à organiser des réunions des membres d’honneur et des correspondants internationaux et de collecter leurs avis.
Tout membre du Collège de Direction peut participer à la Commission Européenne.

Founded in 1991 by a group of San Francisco Bay Area clinicians and scholars under the collective initiative of the San Francisco Society for Lacanian Studies, the School offers a comprehensive clinical training program in Lacanian psychoanalysis. The School also has a scholarship track for individuals wishing to study Lacanian theory intensively without becoming practicing analysts.
We recognize that psychoanalytic training is a long and arduous process, requiring deep personal questioning and passionate commitment. We invite anyone who is interested in learning more about Lacanian psychoanalysis to explore the possibilities for Lacanian training offered by the School.
San Francisco Society for Lacanian Studies
The San Francisco Society for Lacanian Studies is a group of clinicians and scholars located primarily in the San Francisco Bay area who are interested in the pursuit and elaboration of Lacanian theory and praxis. The Society is the forerunner of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis, and functions as a self-supporting organization that sponsors lectures, classes, presentations and symposia for itself and for the community at large.
The Society sponsors an annual Symposium. The Symposium is a day long intellectual forum where members, Students and Candidates from the Lacanian School and invited guests may present papers of a clinical, theoretical or critical nature.

École Lacanienne de Psychanalyse

L’École lacanienne de psychanalyse s’est créée à partir d’un double mouvement d’approbation et de refus : approbation de la dissolution de l’École Freudienne de Paris, refus du geste de Lacan désignant à ses élèves une école non distinguée d’une partie de sa propre famille.
L’impulsion fut donnée par la revue Littoral dont le premier numéro était paru dès juin 1981. À l’écart des rassemblements qui s’esquissaient, Littoral entendait ouvrir le champ des études lacaniennes en soulignant l’importance des transcriptions critiques des séminaires de Lacan, en considérant que le frayage de Lacan devait être envisagé du tout premier au tout dernier de ses textes et interventions, en refusant les amalgames du freudo-lacanisme alors ambiant.
Les limites liées à une publication – avant tout l’impossibilité de mettre en œuvre cette modalité de nomination du psychanalyste que Lacan avait appelée la « passe » – ont conduit, dès 1984, à envisager un lieu de transmission qui fût une école (aucun doute sur ce point) lacanienne (c’était un fait, pourquoi le cacher ?) et de psychanalyse (là-dessus, les avis devaient plus tard se partager quelque peu).
Le 17 novembre 1985, c’était chose faite. L’école comptait 45 membres, et s’ouvrait en décidant de deux points qui, au fil des ans, allaient beaucoup influer sur son style :
1) La passe y était mise en place en prenant certes appui sur la « Proposition d’octobre 1967 » signée de Lacan, mais datée du… 17 novembre 1985. Avec ce plagiat éhonté, se marquait une rupture : plus d’A.E. ni d’AME en provenance de l’ex-EFP pour désigner des passeurs. Il fut alors décidé que tout membre était susceptible de le faire, cet acte l’inscrivant alors, pour un temps limité, dans le fonctionnement même de la nomination d’un analyste de l’école. Cette référence au membre quelconque impliquait, sans presque qu’on y prît garde…
2) une seule qualité de membre. Aujourd’hui encore, l’unicité de cette qualité, plus complexe qu’il n’y paraîtrait au premier abord, régit indirectement nombre des activités de l’école.
Dès les débuts de l’ELP, quelques-uns de ses membres résidaient en Amérique latine. En ce mois de juin 2004, où elle compte 161 membres, 89 habitent en Amérique latine et centrale. D’où un bilinguisme qui se retrouve dans ses publications et ses diverses activités.

Other Voices is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary dialogues while simultaneously maintaining respect for the strengths of traditional academic disciplines. In so far as this publication is successful, its existence questions the role of the academic press in the normalized process of scholastic publication. In face of the exorbitant cost of many print publications, this project shall remain freely accessible to all. We strive to produce quality by utilizing a distributed collective to accomplish all administrative, production and editorial duties required by the journal with a minimum of overhead. JLS aims to contribute to the advancement and dissemination of Lacanian concepts in every area of research.
It features essential papers on the history, theory and clinical aspects of Lacanian psychoanalysis, as well as articles applying Lacanian concepts to the arts and humanities, political science and cultural issues.
The journal also welcomes essays adopting a critical viewpoint, or exploring the interface between Lacanian and other strands of psychoanalysis.
A Semiannual Publication
The privileged link psychoanalysis has to spoken languages does not facilitate communication among analysts and psychotherapists of different mother tongues. The Journal of European Psychoanalysis seeks to overcome these linguistic barriers. It will introduce to the English reader important European authors, as well as debates and trends within psychoanalysis and within other related fields related (especially philosophy, humanities and social sciences). It will include also authors of, e.g., Latin American countries, whose paradigms are close to European »styles.« The journal will not be the official organ of any particular school. Material will be chosen solely in terms of quality, originality and relevance to international debates in psychotherapeutic and psychoanalytic fields. Similarly, significant, hard-to-pigeonhole authors and works falling outside any particular trend will also be presented.
But the Journal of European Psychoanalysis will publish not only translations, but also papers by English-speaking contributors whose works are close to European currents and »styles«. The Journal of European Psychoanalysis will also include philosophical, anthropological, literary and historical contributions. Psychoanalysis has practical, ethical, and theoretical implications relevant not only to clinical practice, but also to politics and social policy, philosophy, cultural studies and the social sciences. This is why the first three issues included papers by many authors who work (exclusively or also) in fields other than psychoanalysis, such as Jacques Derrida, Julia Kristeva, Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, Jean-François Lyotard, René Major, Ignacio Matte Blanco, Mario Perniola, Elisabeth Roudinesco, Isabelle Stengers, Paolo Valesio, Jean-Pierre Vernant, Yosef Hayim Yerushalmi, etc., as well authors mainly involved in clinical practice such as Françoise Dolto, Otto Kernberg, Serge Leclaire, Zvi Lothane, etc. The journal will provide an international forum for the exploration of the frontiers of psychoanalytic inquiry, giving voice to diverse perspectives, research, and clinical practice which link and transform the many partial understandings.
